Telio Impact Award

The award will recognize and encourage innovative and sustainable practices in the business of fashion. Students in the Fashion Arts & Business Diploma, Bachelor of Commerce – Fashion Management, and the Fashion Management Ontario Graduate Certificate in any program year must submit a one-page (8.5×11) designer/creative statement that shall include an image, a description of how the creative statement meets the criteria, and a purpose/meaning statement describing what participation in this project has meant to the student. Students must have a GPA of at least 75% to be eligible.

The document must be in PDF format and a standard font (10-12pt). Students must consent to their project being shared with Telio should it be the winning submission.

A creative statement is usually used for a design collection. It is a paragraph about the inspiration and influences on the collection. In this case, it refers to what the impetus and reasoning behind the project. It should be somewhat personal in how one’s own philosophy informs the creative decision process. Applicants can use projects or other work created as part of a class.

Submissions will be evaluated based on the following criteria:
• Demonstrates having taken thoughtful steps to pursue positive outcomes for both people and planet (Societal Impact & Social Value)
• Design philosophy grounded in sustainable design practices (Ex: Zero-Waste Design, Upcycling, Circular Design, Preferred fiber sourcing…)
• Consideration of 1 or more of the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals through each step of the project. https://sdgs.un.org/goals
