Tom McPhee PGA Professional Scholarship presented by Todd McGrath

Presented to one (1) second-year and one (1) third-year student in the Professional Golf Management program. Preference will be given to students who have experience at a golf facility, interest in a career as a PGA Professional, and possess a passion for customer service/hospitality and Club management. The recipient must demonstrate financial need.

This scholarship is to honour Tom McPhee, in recognition of his mentorship and guidance to a generation of PGA Club professionals. Mr. McPhee has been a role model for golfers at the Smiths Falls Golf & Country Club, where he was the PGA Head Professional and Course Superintendent, for more than 40 years. He was especially supportive of Junior golfers, whether it was promoting and encouraging young golfers to partake in kid’s camps, junior InterClubs, club tournaments or provincial/national championships. During his last decade or so, at the Smiths Falls G&CC, he inspired members and employees to enroll in the Professional Golf Management (PGM) program at Humber College. Many have since graduated and gone on to successful careers in the golf industry or beyond. As an owner of his own Golf Shop and an apparel retail business, his entrepreneurship skills were evident throughout his career.
